Children’s Ministry
Team - Mission Statement
July 2009
The mission and ministry of children’s ministry
at FUMC is to allow children and their parents
to fellowship with one another and get to know
each other as a church community. To allow the
children to experience the love of God in all
that we do.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew
28:19-20, NIV)
The two elements we need to focus on in children’s
ministry are:
Evangelism (Therefore go and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit)
Discipleship (teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you)
The Children’s Ministry Team will supplement
the family in reaching kids (evangelism) and helping
them become fully devoted followers of Christ
(discipleship).
The elements of our ministry will make sure that
we encompass the following principles in all our
programs and events:
- We are a child-targeted ministry
- Lessons will be relevant to today's kids
and the times
- We will teach the Bible creatively
- We will intentionally shepherd children through
Small Groups and events
- We will keep children spiritually, emotionally,
and physically safe
- Our ministry will be FUN!

above concepts are used by permission from the
Willow Creek Association 2005 from their Promiseland
